I just heard there may be as many as 1 MILLION orphans now in Syria?
Here's a layman's view of Humanitarian Aid and suggestions for something new.
Start with a positive, heartfelt idea of Building a Community they can grow in and grow into from day 1.
I envision kids living in trees like the Ewoks in Star Wars, or maybe it's the Kids in Peter Pan! Who needs adults after the basics are covered?!
Make communities for these kids SO EXCITING that people want to take vacations there to participate with them in their world. The visiting groups get vacations they'll never forget. The kids and their communities get human interaction and financial support they could never hope to pay for. International Networks of people are built up over time and those kids then have extended families world wide should they decide to fly their coops some day? Heck. Some kids may want to divorce their parents and move there at a very young age if it's done well enough!!
This was first published on 5/24/2019, 6:23pm PST. I started it an hour prior to that. I went to feed the cats and then got back to it with links and images while leaving a lot of typos. I shared the site that night before i went to bed if I recall and then on 5/27/2020 I came back to clean things up a bit.
Surely the heart was there for many Aid Workers. Unfortunately, the money had to flow through the Greedy and Controlling in most cases and the end result was poor in most situations. The goal for them greedy was to setup "dependency" systems which created recurring revenues in the supply chain on a long term basis. It was "just business" to most (sadly very).
Shelter - I saw a lot of tent cities and camps.
Food - It seemed they'd ship in canned goods and plastic bottles. Preferred providers no doubt.
Medical - They loved sending in Western Medical Doctors who have ZERO nutritional education. They'd introduce the "not-magic" of pharmaceuticals as needed and in excess. Some surgeons provide great relief, but some may provide relief that is not the best approach. Truth be told. MD's generally SUCK at restoring health and wellness with a few exceptions for those who ventured outside of their medical college constraining wheels. But! They couldn't veer to far due to their oath of office to perform within the scope of their training! (smh).
Counseling - No doubt they sent in Counselors. I wonder how much they were getting paid. I'm sure they earned money no matter the outcome. But did any have background in Hypnosis? Any Magicians in the group? How about Artists? Or what about animal communicators or wilderness specialists?
Education - Basic Education comes in Gringo Style with overpriced books written to contort the little minds into knots, while many teachers from the West may have no clue just what a dis-service they've been doing for decades.
What's left in the end?
Groups of people w/ little self sufficiency, bound up by stresses while BILLIONS of $'s are spent on "AID" that mostly goes into the pockets of Grifters plying their trades while playing eugenics in the shade. It's mind numbing, and soul chilling, but prove me wrong.
Kids can build. I've helped teams of middle and high schoolers build block homes in Mexico with minimal adult support. Kids assist in home building in third world countries all the time. Children as young as 3 can contribute.
Working with ones hands is satisfying. It builds self esteem and confidence. It takes the mind away from stress and trouble. It can become intoxicating for some who can be helped to find the flow in work.
Sure. Give them tents for immediate relief, then teach them to build. Maybe it takes longer. Who cares? The labor is theirs and it's helping them learn to be them. Do it with lower cost materials local to the regions and available to them long term so their new education is a baseline for the rest of their lives.
Teach them to grow whatever food can be grown in their area. First and foremost, anything that can be grown with hydroponics would be ideal. After that, organic farming for fruits and vegetables. Low to no meat diets are ideal, but if they are in an area that requires meat or fish, teach them to hunt and/or farm their own food along with the entire process required for consumption and respect for the animal kingdom.
Start by shipping in food if needed. All organic, non processed food. Show them how to use spices for flavor. Preferable local ones and/or ones they could afford long term. Create their own local condiments with low to no sugar or natural sweeteners, salts and spices.

What may come as a shock to many. Bill Gates and the Gates foundation has invested huge sums of money in researching the best options for Sanitation systems. In one case, a stand alone sanitation system produces drinking water out the other end. See "Inside Bills Brain" for more on this.

For all non-emergency issues, Acupuncturists, Herbalist, Chiropractors, Ayurvedics, and/or Naturopaths COMBINED WITH good food and/or clinical nutrition understanding is the best method for healing the body at all times. Dentists with strong Clinical Nutrition in the spirit of many of the true nutrition pioneers could play a HUGE role in initial consultations as well as ongoing support. And believe it or not, for some emergencies and trauma, hypnotists may be an invaluable asset as much or more so than trauma docs, depending on the issue (like burns, for example).
Acupuncturists
My first choice ALWAYS would be to start with an Experienced Acupuncturist trained in Dr. Tan's Balance System or something comparable (after an oral evaluation by a dentist with deep nutritional understanding, if at all possible).
Such a system allows one practitioner to see as many as 8-15 patients and hour with an assistant or a few tracking notes (if needed). They require near ZERO overhead and near ZERO equipment. No fancy equipment or gowns are required. Digital databases for patient tracking can be created in google sheets if desired or needed.
Most points used in Dr. Tan's Balance Method are from Elbows to Hands and Knees to Feet. There is a mirroring system in use with the meridians. Thus, it can be done in chairs or recliners, or outside, while hanging out under trees. It can also be done multiple times a day if the situations call for such intensity.
Needles are reusable with an autoclave.
Acupuncturists who have been cross-trained in Chinese Hospitals with exposure to Western Medicine could be a great fit, assuming they understand their limitations and assuming they know when to ask for help from complimentary wellness providers including MD's if needed.
Clinical Nutrition
Many practicing in the Alternative Healing space in the 1990s saw human health decline oddly. Most traced it to the introduction of GMOs and the increase in factory farming of animals and plants.
Those folks eventually gravitated to the research and teachings of the 20th Century Nutrition gurus: Dr. Royal Lee, Dr. Royal Raymond Rife and Dr. Weston Price. ( see https://disclosure.bryancanary.com/ for short profiles on them )
Most people have never heard of many/any of these folks because the AMA and the FDA suppressed the heck out of that information.
All of these men studied the mouth cavity extensively.
Modern Dentists are not taught what these men knew about the mouth 80-100 years ago and the are blown away when they hear it decades after they started their own work - while taking continuing ed classes, if lucky. (what a corrupt system it all was).
MD's?
MD's play very little if any major role in restoring health.
A new class of MD's called Functional Medicine Doctors may fill a role, but truthfully, compared to the other options listed above, where people know how to transfer energy via touch and move it with needles, food and devices, I'd opt to others first.
Having access to them by video phone for consults is obviously ideal.
The military has small generators and energy systems in the works if not already developed.
Someone surely knows how Tesla's stuff works now. I've seen demo towers on Youtube in Texas and possibly working towers in Tokyo (and maybe even Seattle) although that's not been fully released yet. Solar is always an option for most with low maintenance but batteries and inverters are required (as is the case for most alternative systems).
The most interesting I've seen for a mid-size to large community in the working free energy arena might be a free energy system using algea as it's renewable source as featured in the need to grow move found at the link below. It's really cool.
Traditional Psychologists and counselors who rely on talk therapy are operating behind the times. Those with hypnotherapy and energetic healing including things like tapping and emotional balancing are leaps and bounds ahead. Teach kids magic damn it. All forms of artistic magic. They will heal themselves. See ref to Alan Sands in prior section.

This is just common sense stuff. If a child is hurting you teach them how to do yoga and how to meditate and how to do martial arts. So many options here.

Screen for receptivity for tribal adoptions? Why not? The burden on a community would be far less than that on a single family.
Some place deep in nature where people look at Nature as their Holy Mother? A young child put into that type of loving environment may never realize the difference.
While not the Amazon, and not an Amazonian Tribe, Steve Martin was quite inspiring in "The Jerk". Poor Guy got no rhythm but it was a testimony about Love for an adopted one for sure.

As for bringing kids to America. They are going to be brought to America for what in our current condition?
Children taken from a third world country should only be adopted out to Tribes that make sense and/or Countries that have fully Socialized Health Care systems and reasonable social support systems.
To bring a child to America with our current systems is a criminal energetic act that we need not force on any others.
